House LIS is a residential project nestled in the peaceful village of Begracë, Kaçanik. Designed with a deep connection to its surrounding landscape, the architecture carefully follows the natural terrain. The house integrates a lower level, functioning as a garage and technical space, utilizing the slope to blend harmoniously into the site. The main entrance sits comfortably on the ground floor, offering seamless access.
Inspired by the tranquility of the nearby forest and the natural beauty of its setting, the house emphasizes openness and integration with nature. Large, horizontal windows at eye level invite abundant natural light and offer uninterrupted views of the lush greenery, fostering a calming indoor-outdoor connection.
The design blends modern living with traditional elements, reflected in the building’s form and material choices. A large, sloping roof evokes a familiar, timeless shape. While the use of local stone on the lower level ties the structure to the region’s heritage and creates a solid, grounded base, it gives the upper floor an airy, elevated feel. This contrast emphasizes the house’s connection to the landscape and the location.
The spacious living room, framed by expansive windows, serves as the heart of the home and extends seamlessly to a large terrace, encouraging interaction with the serene environment.
House LIS embodies a thoughtful synthesis of tradition and modernity, merging contemporary comforts with the aesthetic and natural beauty of its surroundings.
